Santa at Historic Riverview on the James – Merry Christmas!
Nothing gets you in the holiday spirit better than a personal visit from Santa Claus himself! We had a wonderful time celebrating the season with LuAnn Hunt of LuAnn Hunt Photography, who set up individual photo sessions of families at Historic Riverview – what a joy to see all the good little boys at girls visit Santa! After visiting with the children, Santa took a stroll around Historic Riverview – he had such a great time! We hope to see you next year Santa! Thanks LuAnn Hunt for the wonderful pictures

Historic Riverview on the James – Wedding Professional Open House
2012 has been a busy year for all of us at Historic Riverview on the James, and there was no better way to celebrate all that we have accomplished than with a celebratory Open House on April 26! Wedding Professionals from Central Virginia had a fantastic time as they were introduced to this new venue in Madison Heights. Many thanks to Molly Levering from Charley’s Restaurant (http://www.charleyslynchburg.com) in Lynchburg, Virginia for the fantastic food (the best chicken salad I have ever had!) and to Rhonda Dodson from the Flower Basket for the beautiful arrangements. Although we had a bit of early morning rain, the skies cleared which allowed all the beauty of Historic Riverview to shine through! Guests enjoyed cocktails served from the smokehouse, a stroll down to the James River, views of the mountains from the gazebo, and the festive spaces inside the Riverview House. Thanks to all of you who visited – we look forward to working with you in the future A special thanks to LuAnn Hunt with LuAnn Hunt Photography for the fantastic photos! Go … Continue reading
Family Fall Picnic at the Fireplace
On October 16, the Proctor family gathered at the fireplace of Historic Riverview on the James. We were there to celebrate a joyous occassion….was Sarah and Andrew’s little baby going to be a boy or a girl! A table was set by the blazing fireplace with choices of everything and anything blue or pink. Blue punch or pink lemonade? Blue or pink hershey kisses? We enjoyed pork chops and sausages cooked to perfection on the grill. Anna B’s Gluten Free made the most amazing chocolate cupcakes that held the secret inside….were we going to see pink or blue frosting?!? It was pink! The Historic Riverview family is so excited to welcome a baby girl this coming February! Do you have a celebration, family gathering, or special engagement you would like to celebrate at an incredible location? Call us at 434-944-8184 for information, or contact us through our contact page. Our “baby reveal party” was such a special and beautiful occasion….we look forward to hosting your special event soon!
August 2011 Supper Club Party
On a late August Sunday evening, couples and friends of a Supper Club came to Historic Riverview on the James for supper and fun at the fireplace site. Despite the chance that Hurricane Irene might try to come too— she didn’t and so they did! Even delaying it a day, still 100% of the friends arrived, so anxious was everyone for outside play/relax time at this outdoor site. In time for bbq, cold covered dishes, wine and selected beers, friends gathered under the umbrellas to view and relax seeing and hearing the James rolling by from the fireplace’s hillside site. The clouds of the last band of the hurricane floated by and turned pink in the setting sun. Some guests got into the spirit surprising others by donning plastic pink pig noses in honor of bbq! At twilight the fire was lit in the fireplace and s’mores were toasted by all. Who could’ve imagined the chairs being pulled closely and chatting going on into the dark as friends were still reluctant to leave despite a … Continue reading
